an email with a couple of pictures arrived from someone who used to know the area well:

"I recently found your web site It brought back many memories. We lived in Maryland Road and  regularly used the park
The Bigg sisters
Bus conductor
The photograph of my sister and I was taken in the rock garden of the Round House (as we called it then) in 1936. I Olga, am on the right and Freda on the left Our surname was Biggs.  This was taken the same day at the recreation ground White Hart Lane Our father was a bus conductor at Palmers Green Garage. I think we met up and all walked the long circular route home."

"Dear Michael .

I was pleased to receive your email. You are very welcome to use the photographs.
We lived at number 139 [Maryland Road]. My parents stayed there until 1976 when they joined us in Northampton. I cannot remember 105 but do remember that,  somewhere in that area, a large cherry tree hung over the pavement.

I hope you have a good day for your jazz picnic. My husband loves old time jazz. It is a bit too far for us now, but will think of you all

Best wishes Olga (and Freda)"
