The traditional Jazz Picnic was held on Sunday 3 September 2006

This year's picnic got off to a windy start.  In fact, we'd been watching the weather anxiously for quite a few days.  Early on Sunday morning rain and cloud still seemed to threaten, but by 9 had begun to clear, leaving the sun to shine through and give us yet another gloriously sunny day for the Woodside Park Jazz Picnic!

It remained breezy though, and one wild gust toppled both gazebos only moments after we had got them up.  So we decided to-put the band in a kind of enclosure decorated with bunting, which seemed to work just as well.

Once the afternoon began, our regular jazz musicians began to draw in the crowds and it didn't seem long before Chris and his fiddlers had got us on our feet weaving a human chain as part of the annual tree-planting ceremony!

Story-telling, Maya on guitar, more dancing and a rousing end to the evening with Wendy on jazz vocals all helped to make our 5th Jazz Picnic a memorable one!
